The Vision of the Winona Methodist Church is to be the Body of Jesus Christ in the world, so that every person will see the Kingdom of God.
Shaped by Faith: Raised in Korea, Christian values guided my life (Proverbs 22:6). My parents instilled humility, love, and prayer. My father added a moral compass and humor, fostering dedication and responsibility.
A Calling Answered & Ministry Journey: A lifelong sense of God’s call guided me into ministry, particularly through John 21:15-17, where I was challenged to love Him by feeding and tending His sheep. Initially, I pursued another degree, but following a transformative experience, I responded to the Holy Spirit’s call to join Seminary, earning my M.Div. in 2000 from Methodist Theological University in Korea. During my studies, I served a local church in Seoul, the capital city of Korea, about 3 years. After graduation, I ministered at a Korean countryside church for about 2 years before God led me to a new phase of ministry in the United States in 2004.
From 2004 to 2010, I served as an associate pastor at First Korean UMC, and from 2010 to 2018, I transitioned into lead pastor roles at Eatonville UMC. During this period, I pursued and gratefully earned a Doctor of Ministry degree in 2013 from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. From 2018 to 2023, I had the privilege of serving at Davenport-Edwall UMC. Currently, I am honored to serve at Winona GMC as an Elder in the Global Methodist Church.
Ministry Philosophy and Vision: Serving with Passion and Purpose: Passion for Scripture fuels my ministry. The Bible fascinates me, guiding me in helping others develop their prayer lives and deepen their relationship with God (James 4:6). Witnessing faith’s impact is a humbling privilege.
Beyond Sermons, my ministry extends to spiritual guidance, navigating challenges, and celebrating joys. Despite my introverted nature, I value building relationships within the church community.
Empowering others is central to my approach. Recognizing that everyone has unique gifts, I empower individuals to serve God, the church, and the community with their talents (Ephesians 4:11-12).
Looking Ahead, I am honored to serve Winona Global Methodist Church and eagerly anticipate where the Holy Spirit will lead us next!
We are a church that believes in Jesus, a church that loves God and people. Overwhelmed by the gift of salvation we have found in Jesus, we have a heart for authentic worship, are passionate about the local church, and are on mission to see God’s kingdom established across the earth.
